Press ReleasesUK to Increase Contribution to SIRC's Information Collection Ottawa, July 31, 2002: A representative of SIRC was in the UK recently to deliver an indexing workshop to librarians. The workshop follows an interest in the UK to increase their contribution of indexed monographic records to the SPORTDiscus. The workshop was lead by Gretchen Ghent, Publications Officer and VP for North America for the International Association for Sports Information (IASI). By contributing to the SPORTDiscus these librarians will help to increase the visibility of UK material and promote research in the area of physical education, sport, sport management etc. This is advantageous to UK publishers whose international exposure will increase, as will the awareness of research in this field. The addition of UK imprints and monographs will enhance the SPORTDiscus' already abundant collection of UK serials literature. Currently, SIRC indexes from the British journal of sports medicine, the British journal of teaching physical education, SportEX medicine and Sports law administration & practice to name a few. "Submitting indexing contributions to the SPORTDiscus is an excellent opportunity to increase visibility and distribution of UK material in these subject areas, both within the United Kingdom as well as throughout the world" - Gretchen Ghent, Publications Officer and VP for North America for the International Association for Sports Information (IASI).
