18, 1996 -- Today SIRC (Sport
Information Resource Centre) announced its partnership with
the Research Consortium of the American
Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance
to sponsor the 1997 Graduate Student Research Award. This
prestigious award, presented at the C.H. McCloy Breakfast
banquet to be held at the upcoming AAHPERD National Convention
in St. Louis (March 20-24, 1997), recognizes the outstanding
student research contribution of the year. The 1996 winner
was Kari M. Tank of Illinois State University for her research
on the topic of "Goal Orientation and Trait Anxiety Amont
Male and Female Athletes". In addition to this support, SIRC
will again this year proudly sponsor the Research Consortium
Scholar Lecture at the 1997 AAHPERD Convention.
Selected by the Research
Consortium's Past-President,these lecturers represent many
of America's best and brightest researchers in the health,
physical education, recreation and dance professions. With
this ongoing support, SIRC shows its commitment to the encouragement
of research in these fields.
